Greetings, AWA Facilitators,
I’m doing a session at the October retreat called “An Honest Look at Substack.” I plan on doing is sharing how other facilitators use Substack as well as compiling a list of the Substacks of AWA Facilitators to share with participants.
Would you be willing to share your Substack? If so, kindly put the URL below.
With thanks,
Leanne Shirtliffe
P.S. My Substack is called Chasing Wonder at https://leanneshirtliffe.substack.com/
Hi Leanne, my Substack is called peas with honey: Scribbles and Marks – it’s a monthly newsletter https://peaswithhoney.substack.com/
I use it talk about my own writing practice, share a prompt, and talk about my own creative practice and inspiration.
Thanks, Bibi. Working on my presentation now. Off to look at yours (I’ll share). Thanks for answering the forum call!
Hi Leanne, thank you for this post which, aside from anything else has turned me into a subscriber (and yes a happy one as well!) of (or is it ‘to’?) Chasing Wonder.
To answer your question, yes I do have a Substack – which certainly, I would be happy to share. I’ve been creating it for just coming up on two years. It’s called Bright Side Writings. Optimism-led, fortnightly-ish stories to brighten these dark times of chaos & collapse. (Emphasis on the -ish.)
My posts tend to be long reads. And sometimes even loooong reads. But I always try to include fun images as well – mostly just to shock people into waking up from nodding off while reading. I tend to write about… all kinds of things. Sometimes I do deep dives into “things I’m interested in” – so there was a three part post on the wisdom and beauty of trees. And then another time there was another three part post, but this time simply into “colour” – what it means to us historically, linguistically, scientifically, economically… it was such a cool subject to explore! And hey, it also gave me every excuse to use some really fun and “colour”ful images.
I even write about grief sometimes, in ways that, strangely enough I do still manage to fit into my name and descriptor: “Bright Side Writings – optimism-led stories.” Because I write about grief not to get all maudlin about it, but more in an effort to simply “talk about it” and make grief less of a “difficult to talk about” or “taboo” subject since, frankly, it is something we will ALL experience, sooner or later during our lives.
See what I meant about long reads? Oh well.
Look, if you’re an insomniac, or just tend to have trouble sleeping, then I invite you. Head on over to Bright Side Writings at https://matthewcurlewis.substack.com and you never know! You might find yourself snoring blissfully within a few paragraphs – give or take an intriguing image or two!
(And Leanne thank you in advance for this offer of mentioning fellow Affiliate Substackers during the Retreat!)
Thank you so much, Matthew! Happy to share with other AWA leaders as an example. ◡̈
Hi Leanne
I have two Substacks, under duty-writes — guy writes – stuff and guy writes – fiction; https://substack.com/@guywrites. I use them to publish writing, which I had been doing fairly regularly until recently. Need to get back to it. But it has proved a great outlet and since I write a variety of genre materials I split it. I also drop Notes on occasion particularly about fountain pens and inks, things I love.
Thank you! My neglected Substack is;
