As these questions are good conversation starters, I thought I’d share a few of them here.
• How do we find the time to lead workshops when our lives are overwhelming?
• I’ve led a few workshops for WAW, but I’d like to begin my own workshops. Do I need to have a theme? Or can I just provide random prompts?
• I’ve been leading in-person workshops for a while but have just moved to a new town. Any tips on starting up workshops in a new location?
• How do I get comfortable with Zoom? How can I translate a tactile/kinesthetic kind of workshop into an online format? How do I pick up information from participants in an online format?
These are such great questions – as to workshops in a new place – try finding some organization to partner up with – Library, Senior Center, Hospital. Volunteer to host a round of workshops for free with the idea of either charging the second time or offering it separately having built an email list of the participants.
As to finding time – I think I look at it somewhat differently. I try pretty diligently to write everyday. I run a number of workshops, live and on-line. I also write in a number of other workshops. I look at all those as opportunities to write. So I don’t feel like I’m taking time away from my own creative process. They an avenues to get there daily. Hope that helps.
